Golden Eagle Jazz Band
Wonderful session. It reminded me of my visits to the 51 Club. Customer at Sinah Warren Jazz Weekend.
Here's a band I would love to play in. You can just sit back on that rhythm section, and not worry about a thing. Geoff Cole-Tromboneist.
A very popular band for my first reappearance back at the Club after 2 years. Excellent lively performance. I particularly liked the ‘slow’ 1920s version of It’s Tight Like That with Malc on vocals.
What a great band. Humorous, entertaining and excellent musicians. Please book them again in the future.
Brilliant! If every jazz band could be like the Golden Eagle life would be perfect! Great music, good humour – they enjoyed themselves and so did we.
Jokes, joy and just good jazz. Special mention for the bassist, Chris who kept the whole evening bouncing. 110% entertainment.
Very enjoyable with Malc on drums and vocals. Nice to see you back at the Club.

Loved the energy, the happy vibes and the mix of tempi. Lovely to have some slower bluesy numbers along with the quick ones.
I did look at the website of The Golden Eagle Jazz Band, and I must say, having spent a good amount of time in Louisiana and New Orleans, it is good too hear some authentic jazz defiantly being played right.
Jessica Rose. USA
The Golden Eagle Jazz Band, have been knocking on Jazz club doors for a little while now and I'm pleased to have offered the band a visit to our Old Barn Hall Jazz club. The band is well presented, full of enthusiasm, and has an excellent choice of Jazz tunes, they have obviously chosen the direction of the Revival period in Jazz History. It is a band that will reach the heights of popularity, mark my words. Re-booked already, so don't forget me boys when I next make a call. July 10th 2011, The Golden Eagle, a band that is moving up the pecking order fast. An absolute first rate performance. One of the few bands around today where I would be happy to travel to see them perform.
Mick Welstead. Promoter, The Old Barn Hall Jazz Club.
Here’s an entertaining band that play in the New Orleans tradition. They not only keep to the spirit of the music, they also look to enjoy performing, keeping a smile on theirs and the audience’s face. Dancers will love their tempos.
Pete Lay, Musician and Promoter.
Hello Kevin, My wife and I saw your band at Amersham jazz club last night and what a great night it was. You have a great sound and the choice of programme and tempos was wonderful, as could be testified by the packed dance floor for most of the evening. We also purchased a copy of your "June Night" CD and are enjoying it very much.
Peter and Wendy Dew, Amersham Jazz Club.
The most improved band on the circuit, over the last couple of years. Kevin needs a pat on the back. Keep up the good work!
Alan Davis. Promoter, Amersham Jazz Club.
A band that is always welcomed by a critical audience that sits and listens. A Well played, balanced programme delivered with a touch of humour. Feedback from regular club members: "An excellent band" , "total Entertainment"
Ian Brameld, Promoter, The Pump House Jazz Club, Watford.
Hi Kevin, The band certainly went down well. A definite yes for rebooking.
Fred Lindop. Director, The Swanage Jazz Festival.
Hi Kevin, Your site says it all . We at Griffin Park Jazz Club really enjoy the sound of The Golden Eagle Jazzband.
Bryan Clark. Promoter, Griffin Park Jazz Club.
Good session at Botany Bay with the Golden Eagle Band. A fine bunch of happy guys knocking out some good, honest, no frills N.O. ensemble jazz. It was a pleasure working with them. I look forward to the next time. Cheers, chaps!
Trefor Williams. Professional bass player.
Last months band the Golden Eagle went down a storm. Everyone I talked to asked me when we are having them again. The tune selection could not have been bettered, and their use of light and shade reminded me of some Ken Colyer music of the 50’s. Two numbers in particular I remember were Doctor Jazz and Royal Telephone, both
played at a slow tempo unlike the frenetic pace most bands play these two tunes. I think one of the secrets of a good night is if a band seem to be enjoying themselves and these guys were enjoying themselves in spades, which transfers to us and sends us home very happy. Will they be back at the Dog? Yes, they will."
Joe Croll. Promoter, The New Yellow Dog Jazz Club.
Judith and I were very pleased to spend an afternoon with The Golden Eagle at the Old Barn Hall. We both had a great foot-tapping fun time – due to you all being such excellent musicians, working so hard and fitting together so well, while still seeming to enjoy it all.
Bill & Judith Booth.
Fabulous gig last night at Bagster House, really enjoyed it. Love your band.
Tina Turner.
Many thanks again, Kevin, for being so kind to respond to a fan (yes, the CD is great). May you and your band enjoy blowing for many years to come. Your style takes me right back to a visit to preservation Hall, New Orleans, manyyears ago.
Best, Mike Lowis, The Studio Theatre, Wellingborough.
Now here's a band I really like.
Mac Rae, Leader, The Rae Brothers New Orleans Jazz Band.
Thanks for a great session at the Concorde Club Eastleigh last night. I can't wait for your next event in this area. Joe Croll tells me you are booked to play at the Yellow Dog in 2013. Also a fantastic lunchtime event at the 100 Club two months ago. I hope to see you booked at festivals soon.
Bob Hatcher.
What a great evening! I’m talking about when you appeared at our Jazz Club at Farnborough in Kent. It was your first time (Friday, 29th June 2012). You came, you played and you conquered! You had our audience in the palms of your hands, like putty. I think if we were not on the ground floor, the dance area would have collapsed through sheer weight, with all the dancing that took place. It was lovely to see non-dancers (such as Bob, who hasn’t been able to dance for a couple of years, lured up and dance 5 dances!). We haven’t a free date this year, but next year we hope to have you back a couple of times, if you will come.
Diane Pratt and Keith Grant. Promoters, Farnborough Jazz Club, Kent.
I was impressed by the band last night , strong rhythm section and front line , sound balance just right , good stuff !
Bob Allbut, Banjoist/Guitarist/Bandleader.
I very much enjoyed your band. Lovely tight rhythm section and some great work from Alan. It’s always an education to watch other banjo players – the very straight metronomic style which you play is so redolent of the Howard/Lewis bands – and what volume/tone from your banjo.
Pete Miller. Banjoist/Guitarist, The Jabbo Five.
We saw the Golden Eagle Jazz Band play in the Cricketers pub in Horsell last week and thought they were amazing! We're busy planning our wedding for May next year and wondered if they're available to book.
Elise Stuteley.
Great session at the Winning Post for dancers & listeners. Keep up the good work & keep the bass drum.
Regards Richard.
Hello Gents,
Just to thank you once again for A GREAT NIGHT at Verwood Jazz Club, as always you played your
SOCKS OFF and every number was a "GEM". We had never heard The Red Wing (vocal) before it was lovely.
You are such a happy Band and it certainly showed which cannot be easy when travelling so much, we see you all very often but not often enough. Good luck and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Irene and Lionel Green. Christchurch.
This evening we went to see The Golden Eagle Jazz Band at Verwood Jazz Club. They were supported by four groupies; much younger than the rest of us. Interesting numbers were, "I Thank You Mr Moon", "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" and "Smile Darn Ya Smile". We danced to nine numbers; good band for dancing.
Peter and Selina Burton. Dorset.
Brilliant session yesterday. The band have that elusive New Orleans sound. I doubt there is a better N.O. band in the UK at present. If there is, I haven’t heard them.
Bill Toman. Jazz Drummer
Dear Kevin, Thanks for another great evening of jazz.
Stuart Barnes. Promoter, Albury Jazz Club.
Jim & Margaret Bevington: “Happy, talented band. Very entertaining & a bit of ‘chat’”.
Nick & Heather Anderson: ”A very talented band edged with a good sense of humour”
Barry Lomas: “Very cheerful entertainment & the music wasn’t bad either!”
John & Maureen Carter: “Superb evening! Great jazz, great entertainment! With a strong front line plus a driving beat from the rhythm section, all ably led by Kevin Scott on Banjo”.
Alexandra Lantz: “As always, very good quality band. They seemed to have fun playing for us and we had fun (and enjoyed) listening to them”.
Tony Baily: “Wonderful, as usual”.
June & John Curtis and Phyllis Holroyd: “Lively and great entertainment”.
Without doubt, one of the best bands in the Country:- Renee Long.
Hi Kevin, Thank you for an absolutely superb evening of danceable jazz, you certainly know what we like.
Wendy Lawrence, Salisbury Jazz Club.
Good morning Kevin, What a great evening you gave us Friday, it was fantastic and no doubt you could tell by the atmosphere and the amount of people on the dance floor all evening. You are such a happy band and it certainly shows. WELL DONE, we suggested to Joe that we had you much more often. We wish you all every success and look forward to seeing you again very soon.
Irene and Lionel Green, Salisbury Jazz Club.
What a great band last night, right up my street. They set the tone for the evening with their first number "Joe Avery's Piece". According to my Salisbury Jazz Club Spread Sheet, this is was the eighth time they'd visited the club, and I've always given them top marks on my score sheet.
Audience member, Salisbury Jazz Club.
Hi Kevin, Please thank the guys for and excellent night at the Townhouse, and thank you for an excellent programme.
Terry Hooper. Promoter, The New Townhouse Jazz Club
Every song you played was differnt and perfect for dancing. You also played some songs we've never heard before. Thank you.
Audience member, The New Townhouse Jazz Club
What a great afternoon, your band gets better and better. Every song and tempo was spot on.
Avril, audience member, The Old Barn Hall Jazz Club.
A big thank you to Kevin Scott and the chaps, for entertaining us on Friday night at Salisbury Jazz Club.
Joe Croll. Promoter, Salisbury Jazz Club.
Wow wow and wow again Kevin, What a night, without a doubt you and your band could see how we were ALL enjoying ourselves, FIRST CLASS and thank you for making it such a success. You are so happy and it makes the Band happy too, so WELL DONE again. Thank you so much for playing the Isle of Capri for Lionel and I (what a memory!) that was a bonus. We are looking forward to your new disc, when it becomes available, do let us know please.
Again, we wish you “LOADS OF GOOD LUCK” which you so rightly deserve.
Lionel and Irene, Salisbury Jazz Club.
The best I've been entertained by for a long time. My partner and I will definitely be coming back for more. Loved the music and participation.
Stuart and Pat. The BD Jazz Club, Somerset.
A note to say what a great night last night was. The Golden Eagle band seems to get better each time we see it. One of the Club members came up to me afterwards and said “it must be evenings like this that make you happy that you took over the running of the Club”.
Len Brown, Promoter, Sidcup Jazz Club.
What can I say - you guys were even better than I remember. Everyone loved it! I just wish I'd got you for longer!
Thank you so much for being so bloody brilliant! Now all I need to do is get divorced so I can have another wedding and hire you again. Do send me any dates of gigs you are doing around us. I will gather a crowd and come along. Much love, Noo.
Noo Stones, The Bride at a recent wedding reception we played at.
